Dr. Tapan Barui is presently working as an Assistant Professor of the Department of Library and Information Science, University of North Bengal since 2012. He is former Head, Department of Library and Information Science, Member of Court and Executive Council, University of North Bengal. He has completed his B.Sc.(H) in Botany under the University of Calcutta. After that he has passed B.L.I.Sc and M.L.I.Sc. from Jadavpur University, Kolkata. He has achieved MPhil and awarded PhD in Library and Information Science degrees from University of Kalyani, Nadia
and Jadavpur University, Kolkata.
Dr. Barui is a passionate activist for libraries and their essential role in modern society. He also seeks to understand how information approaches and technologies can be used to transform society. He prefers to talk about Knowledge Organization, Information Retrieval, Community Information Service and any contemporary issues of library services and its education in academic gathering. He has delivered his speech in different international and national seminar, conference, workshop, OP and RC programs on different themes.
Dr. Barui has written more than 20 articles and book chapters on various topics of Library and Information Science in reputed journals and edited books.
